Welcome to
My Mama Monologues©
where true mama stories by men, women and children
from around the world are submitted each year.
Those selected are performed at a staged play-reading premiering on Maui on Mother's Day weekend,
and at different locations throughout the year.

The Maui event is held at The McCoy Studio Theater, Maui Arts & Cultural Center. Venues throughout Hawaii, the U.S. and elsewhere are also producing MMM, with new stories added each year. Imagine going to a smorgasborg of mama stories: hot & cold, milky, sweet, bitter, spicy and ticklish! You are invited to submit your own story, and to produce MMM at a location near you. (Instructions below.)

"My Mama Monologues 2009" included stories from as far away as England, about mothers from places as remote as the Andes, and born as long ago as 1897. The youngest author was just seven, from Seattle. The Maui cast of 30 readers included grandparents and grandchildren, celebrities and first-timers. Click on MMM 2009 on the menu above.

The "My Mama Monologues 2010" script, just finished with 27 new stories, has been sent to producers in Hawaii; Powell River, Canada; and Denver, Colorado (
www.MyMamaMonologuesDenver.com) This year, there is a proliferation of talented Maui authors who had gone to last year's performances. Click on MMM 2010 on the menu above.

The birth of My Mama Monologues©

Pat Masumoto and her friends have been exchanging stories about their mothers for years. They have boasted, laughed hysterically, cried like babies, and expressed intense and mild frustrations... concerns of a lifetime...and of the last hour. What powerful therapy! The subject of an abundance of stories, Pat's 101-yr-old mother Florence, having survived her husband, two children and even grandchildren... expresses herself fearlessly, non-stop, and can be found on Twitter@GrandmaFlorence

In early 2009, Pat sent out a very small signal… an invitation to submit true mama stories for a play-reading. Receiving dozens of submittals, she worked feverishly with authors who have a unique message, and Voila! MMM was born! Pat smiles, "
I hadn’t realized it would be such a gigantic baby. What an intense labor of love for us all."

INSTRUCTIONS: SUBMIT YOUR STORIES! BE A PRODUCER!

+  Men, women and children are invited to submit stories and poems about their own mothers,

on January 5th if you want your story to be considered for that year.

1. Stories must be true, and written in English
22. You may submit more than one story or poem
3. Limit: 1,000 words or six minutes of voiced reading
4. On a cover page, list your name, age, gender, physical address,
email address & ph# .

5. Email as an attachment to
Pat@MyMamaMonologues.com and write
"MMM STORY" in the subject heading
6. You may choose to receive credit or remain anonymous. If anonymous,
please write "author is shy” on the cover page.
7. You must be willing to have your stories edited to suit the format of MMM
8. When asked, you must sign a non-exclusive Copyright Transfer Agreement
before your story can be read.

+  Interested in producing “My Mama Monologues?”
MMM makes a worthy fundraiser. Because this is a reading requiring no memorization, there could be a one-person cast; or a man, woman and child; or as many as one reader per story. Venues can be private or public: residences, theaters, cafes, classrooms, bookstores... even a barn. Directors are asked to select their own stories from among many, for long or short performances. For questions and proposals, email Pat@MyMamaMonologues.com  and write "MMM PRODUCTION" in the subject heading.

             Thank You!
